Annual General Meeting

CANCELLED

The British Croatian Society regret to announce CANCELLATION of the Annual General Meeting in Conway Hall and Social Event afterwards in Red Lion Square booked for:

Thursday 24 June 2021 18:30 AGM

19:30 Social

Conway Hall, 25 Red Lion Square, Holborn, London WC1R 4RL

This follows government announcements extending Covid Restrictions until no earlier than 19 July 2021, in particular limits on meetings: indoors 6 persons, outdoors 30 persons.

The purpose of the AGM is to approve the Annual Report and Accounts, and elect the Committee.  A note below from the BCS Secretary proposed that we follow the procedure adopted in 2020 to continue the Business of the Society.

Your BCS Committee is working on a programme of events on remote media such as Zoom, and we have the possibility of a streamed Croatian Cinema programme.

Please watch your email and social media for further details.

Meantime enjoy the summer, and the football tournament. Unfortunately Regulations rule out meeting in a pub to watch football together.

During the pandemic the British Croatian Society has taken a cautious approach, we will continue to be careful and take expert advice. However the Society is surviving the pandemic and we are running a programme of remote events, and may try a hybrid of events with an audience present in person and remotely – subject to government restrictions.

WE therefore encourage you to keep up your subscription, and support the Society as we all navigate this difficult time.

Nicholas Jarrold, Chair British-Croatian Society

3.      Comments on the AGM Agenda should be emailed to the Secretary [email protected] to be received no later than Wednesday 14 July 2021

4.     Provided that there are no objections by that date the business of the AGM: Minutes, Accounts and Annual Report will be deemed agreed by the virtual Society AGM, and that the Committee Members named on the Agenda will be rolled forward for 2021 with new Committee members most welcome to put their names forward.

5.      A confirmatory meeting will be held in due course when the Covid-19 virus situation has abated.

We would welcome new members to the Committee particular those with skills applicable to the new world of remote meetings and u Tube.

Robert Dolata Secretary

The text below is for the record. It relates to the AGM 2020 which was cancelled ahead of lockdown.

CANCELLED ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2020 NOTICE

In view of the recent marked increase in the number of Covid-19 virus cases in Britain, especially in London, and after consulting members of the Society’s Committee, it has been decided that the AGM, currently scheduled to be held on 11 March 2020 should be replaced with a 'virtual' AGM. In doing so we have been particularly influenced by the fact that many members would need to travel to the meeting by public transport during the evening rush hour.

As government advice suggests that the outbreak of covid19 will persist for some time, please see below a note from the Secretary of the British-Croatian Society on a ‘virtual’ AGM.

I very much regret having to postpone the AGM but hope members will agree that this is the responsible course to take in present circumstances.

Nicholas Jarrold, Chair British-Croatian Society
